Minutes from Meeting 6th February
Everyone Present
Venue: Arkwright Cafe
The Following points were discussed as a group during last week’s meeting:
- Urban Farming/Agriculture with the corporation of Architecture and how we can develop new and innovative materials
- Tracking System with the Building Process
- Where do we see the future to be in 2020?
Urban Farming/Agriculture
The Island Effect: Urban Heat within Cities and Towns in the UK. Methods in tackling this issue and how this can help or hinder our business plan.
Innovative materials: ETFE Panels such as the Eden Project in Cornwall. Polycarbonate Glazing.
Case Study: Sweden Globe: Rotating Building (Looking at the technical side of the buildings and its workings)
Vertical Farming: city’s open areas/spaces are decreasing rapidly making it more important to help incorporate green spaces within the cosmopolitan lifestyle and urban cities. How would this be possible and how we see this to be an essential principal in 2020.
Tracking System
A tracking system able to help the client receive frequent, up to date information on their building, this will help to create a seamless construction and design process. This in turn will help to keep labour and professional costs down for the client, as discussions can be made ASAP keeping the completion on track and on budget.
The tracking system will be proved when contracts are signed between the client and our company. This will be almost like a parcel you can track today, a parcel states whether parcel is in transport eg on a plane and letting the customer know what hub it is in. For the Building Construction process the tracking will state what stage of build the labour team are at, whether problems have incurred and the next steps needed to be made for continuation of project. Available on the system should be Plans, Sections and Elevations: Initial, Current and if problems happen Future drawings/technical drawings.
Uk in 2020
Where do we see the United Kingdom in 2020? With this In mind our HQ will be located in Nottingham. Ideas/Hypothesis were an increase in Population, decrease in Agriculture land and small open green spaces such as parks. Will there be a formal bill for 0 food miles. Social interaction among locals/communities will benefit social improve around neighbour hoods.
